Programming For Dummies Workshop (AI)

till

Location: Blackboard Collaborate on Cover Nestor page

IMPORTANT: There are two identical Programming for Dummies Workshops. If you can't make this one, there is also one on Thursday! Also, we're not teaching you C, that's what Imperative Programming is for!

Programming for Dummies is here to help you think programmatically! In this lecture-workshop hybrid, we will discuss how daily life is full of complex algorithms, how a computer makes sandwiches, and how to cut your tomatoes recursively! All this and more to help those students who have little or no experience with programming to get into the right mind frame.

PS. Note that we will only look at pseudocode - that is, no programming language specifics will be discussed.

If you don't have access to the Cover Nestor page yet here is the link to join the session as a guest: https://eu.bbcollab.com/gues...465285d854fd3bc80c464c36bd0a2

      Linux Workshop (AI)

      till

Location: Blackboard Collaborate, Cover Nestor page

IMPORTANT: We will not be showing you how to install virtual box/linux on your own machine so you will have to do that beforehand if you want to follow along. Otherwise, we will be talking through all the exercises and content like a lecture smile.gif

To make your life a little easier, we are organising a workshop for Linux. We will cover navigating the maze of Linux, getting the terminal to listen to you, and getting that C-code compiled right.

So, whether you have problems taming that Linux monster or you just want to stop by to pick up some cool tips & tricks, this is the workshop for you! Be sure to come, and bring your friends!

                        Location: Rozenburglaan 5 / online

This activity is not organised by Cover.

Due to the new COVID-19 measures announced on the 28th of September, this event is cancelled.

RDW has been organising Self Driving Challenges with electrical karts since february 2019. During the span of this challenge, two teams battle each other for sweet victory, by programming the best functioning self driving kart!

Now, RDW is back with another Self Driving Challenge - but this time, there is a little twist! The cars that will be programmed are made of Lego! There will also be multiple teams competing against each other from Cover, ASCI (study association for Information Science), and RealTime (study association for HBO-ICT).

You can sign up alone or as a team (should consist of 3-7 people). If you sign up alone, we will put you in a team. Note that this might be a mixed team with members from the other associations as well.

Due to space limitations, this event will be an online-offline hybrid: one person from each team will be present at the location, the other team members can follow along at home. Please specify in the form below whether you'd be willing to come to the RDW location.

Check out the aftermovie of a previous Self Driving Challenge!

Which movie will we watch? You can decide! Vote in this weeks poll to pick the scariest (or least scary) movie to watch.

After a first very successful Q&A we're here to give you more!

This is a question and answering event where people can ask any question about Imperative Programming, from simple to complex. The questions will be answered by former tutor in Cover's CACTuS system, head of Imperative Programming TAs last year, 2 year Algorithms and Datastructures TA, and honours student Isaiah van Hunen.

The event is on the Cover Nestor page (guest link). It starts at 15:00 and it stops when your questions stop! In the case of there being no questions, he will go over exercises. If you have any questions beforehand please submit them to education@svcover.nl so we can prepare accordingly.

                                                See you there!
